Jenghes, could you provide a bit of background for those of us unfamiliar with him?

Hey Jen,
Can you get a short paragraph on why you think Steven Pro should receive the award? Since Corey second it maybe he can give some feedback as well. It would probably be good to nominate him since after all MACNA is being put on with his club this year.
Another person I was thinking of was Brian Plankis with the efforts he's been doing with Project Dibs, but maybe we can nominate him next year as a club. I'll add a little bio of Brian Plankis by this weekend, and see if Jen and Corey can add one about Steven Pro, and see if the club comes up with anyone else to nominate and why and we'll put it to vote. We have to make are submission by July 15th.

Steven Pro is my nomination for the MASNA award 2007. He is actively contributing to the community in various ways such as through Marine Depot, public speaking and published articles.
Currently Steven Pro is an active member and treasurer of the Pittsburgh Marine Aquarium Society (PMAS). PMAS is hosting the 2007 MACNA conference and Steven has been actively promoting the event to many area clubs to encourage attendance. http://pmas.org/
Steven hosts an expert forum called "Pulse of the Hobby by Steven Pro" on Marine Depot forums. He consistently demonstrates his expertise by helping fellow hobbyists on the forums. http://forum.marinedepot.com/Forum14-1.aspx
Steven has also contributed to the hobby by pioneering the quarantine process and has analyzed many other tips and tricks regarding equipment and chemical usage. He has published many articles for several organizations such as Freshwater & Marine Aquarium Magazine, Conscientious Aquarist, and Reefkeeping Online Magazine. http://forum.marinedepot.com/Topic18606-14-1.aspx
Finally, Steven contributes to the community by speaking at events and local clubs to teach his theories and scientific experiments. http://forum.marinedepot.com/Topic18609-14-1.aspx
I believe that Steven Pro is a great nomination by TRAC for the MASNA award for his contributions to the hobbyist, his local club, the community and also to MASNA.

I would like to add that even though he works on the national level and read by a great number of people on a daily basis, he will still take the time to talk with an individual. He has offered a great deal of advice and council to my program. Much of my plans for my touch tank and reef tank came directly from him.
I am hoping that he will be able to join us this November for my open house to speak on the reef keeping hobby.

My second choice for a nomination would be Kelly Jedlicki for her contributions on Disease Health and wellness. She also sponsors an expert forum on Marine Depot and has published many articles as well. http://forum.marinedepot.com/Forum10-1.aspx
I think that Steven Pro is the better choice though because of his contribution to MACNA this year and it would be an honor to give it to him on the year that PMAS is hosting it.

Completely Agreed! The first All-Ohio Frag Swap that I attended, he settled next to me at the table that I was at. We chatted for a while and at the end he gave me some frag plugs that he had left over. At the time, I had no idea who he was. He was just super friendly and down to earth. I later realized who he was and was honored to be able to just simply socialize with him!

I still have a candy cane he sold to me on the very cheap. You will not find too many who can speak on candy canes for ten minutes in a meaningful way yet still communicate with the masses effectively.
A very bright person and has done so much for the hobby and hobbists.
