I think that I am on track (not 100% sure) to make the "big switch" on Saturday.
My plan is to provide lunch and pass the hat for pizza (beerdock) at dinner time.
I will have a ton of jobs that I could really use help with from cleaning, demo-ing the old countertops, plumbing, aquascaping and on and on. Something for every skill level for sure
Please let me know as soon as you can that you are able to help (I know I am asking a ton as its about an hour drive just to get to me) Even more for Scott
I have the right bulkhead fittings now (got from salty and sending the ones that don't fit sent back)
Both Miraclesin glass and Bulk Reef responded quickly and to my satisfaction. this is most impressive of Miracles as Canada is on holiday this week and their factory is closed
My plan is to start very early in the morning and want to keep working until its all done. No one is at all obligated to stay a moment longer than they want to. All are welcome to come and go as they please and any help is greatly appreciated
so if you could drop me a note either a pm or here to let me know who is in so I can be sure to have enough for lunch and know that there will be enough hands to lift the old tank out of the way that would be very cool. I think that if I have at least three more guys then its a go.
I will make a go/no go announcement Friday afternoon

I will have a power miter box, cordless drill, hammer, channel lock plyers etc. Feel free to bring any of your own though. I always like using my own tools when doing projects with friends

Dave I will be there. I am pretty much a jack of all so I'm sure my hands will find a place to fit in. I also will volunteer to be the runner for the day. You cant do a proper build without hearing "we got to go to lowes" lol. No worries I have my work fuel card with permission to use.

LOL!!! I don't think I've ever done any plumbing with at least 3 trips to the store.

To Everyone interested: more eyes, hands, and BRAINS= better, Do not worry at all about how long you have been keeping or egos or anything else for that matter. other than my wife bossing me around (and lord knows someone has to LOL) no one is the know it all that will be tossing their weight around..
I know I will be learning a great deal from fellow builders as they share their tips and tricks learned from their own builds
there will be several points where we will need many bodies to lift, carry, and handle pieces. so I am not sure there is a likely to be attained point where we have too many people.
this is about putting a nice teaching tool together for the kids and there is a bunch of work to be done so if you want to and can come please don't hesitate to come down and stay as long as you would like to.
Also, anyone who would rather not get wet or dirty but like to just watch and pick the builders' minds as to why something is being done the way it is are more than welcome.

I'm really looking forward to the build. I've only been a reef keeper for 2 1/2 years. So my experience and knowledge is very limited. I think I'd be best used on a given task with a little direction. This will be more of a learning experience to me, and of course the opportunity to help a fellow reefer.

I think this would be a good time to put to use a web cam with a live video feed.

Surprisingly a short pudgy middle aged guy covered in saltwater and pvc cement won't get the ratings you would think LOL
plus I am pretty sure that the school system would not support live video ban width

Ugh! This would fall on a Saturday when I'm already quite booked. As of now I having prior obligations from midday through the evening.
I will let you know if my plans shuffle a bit and I can make it out your way for awhile Dave. I was really looking forward to helping with this, too.

I know Dave...a bummer indeed. I'll defintely have to make a trip out.
Well best of luck to you with this project tomorrow. Someone please document the process with pictures! Since I can be there getting salty, that's the next best thing. Keep the rest of us updated.

Most of the non-essentials are now off line. The skimmer, auto top-off, and Kalk reactor were broken down and all cleaned up.
I have several trash cans full of fresh saltwater, three 55 gal tanks ready to temporaryily hold live stock, plus a rolling 100 gal tub
I am getting very nervous because, I know that something will go off plan but with help I am sure that we will over come
