I'm considering changing out my MH's for 4 T-5's. Does anyone have an opinion on Marine-Glo T5 HO bulbs? Good, Bad or other wise.

I use ATI bulbs, you might want to use Icecap ballast' to overdrive them. I have 6 on my 48x18x26 100 gallon all on Icecap ballast.

There is no such thing as a bad picture!!!

I run a combo of ATI and Giesmenn bulbs on mine and i am using all workhorse ballast

I run 8 36 inch bulbs over my 115 72X18X20 i believe

As mentioned, ATI and Geismann are the two big names in the T5 realm. I don't think you can go wrong with either of their products.

Also, since you are replacing MH with T5, I would consider doing 6 bulbs (8 if you can swing it) because if I recall correctly you have a fair amount of SPS...? Plus it will keep all of your options open.

I would mention aquascience bulbs as well as I thought I read that they had pretty good reviews.

So no one has any info on Marine-Glo. Looks like people are using Giesmann or ATI bulbs. The Marine Glo bulbs I can get for less than 20.00 ea.

If they're that cheap, I would bet the par rating is pretty bad. Current bubls are also cheap - but the PAR readings are way below Geisemann and ATI. I prefer ATI over any other brand but do have a Geisemann bulb running now. My light came with current, and when I installed ATI it literally hurt my eyes to look at them they were that much brighter.

I know it seems like a ways to drive but i got my bulbs from Reef Solutions up off of 696 and VanDyke like an hour drive but great prices on the bulbs and they have a tank set up that you can select difernt bulb types and see what look you want very cool. Not to mention the Store is really awesome

Not sure what kind of bulbs Ryan at Toledo Aquarium will be carrying. Might ask him and see i will give everyone a report since i will be going on Saturday for the opening
