I have a 75 gallon tank with some sps and other corals growing under a odyssea 48" 260w pc light. Well the fixture is taller that my canopy that came with my tank so I have been going without the canopy. I wanna get into some other corals but they require more light so I have been told.

I have seen some custom home lighting jobs built into existing canopys, And I am a fairly good electrician so I wanted to try my hand at building my own lighting under my canopy.

So I was wondering if?

A) going with either t5's or pc's would be better?

B) Should I look for kits with wiring endcaps and reflectors, etc or get the individual componets here and there

C) would I be better off staying with a commercial unit and paying a bit more for it?

Thanks for any tips.

Tek T5HO kit would do wonderful for you. It's an easy install even for people with little electrical knowledge. So for you, an easy job.

Or if you have the money, go Ice Cap. Better reflectors and endcaps.

And if you do go T5, buy quality bulbs. Currents aren't going to cut it and honestly for the price, just poney up the extra $5-$10 and buy awesome bulbs (ATI/Giessmann).
