I find it hard to believe that thing is still not fixed. I can't even imagine the impact on the Eco-system, the fishing industry and tourism for that region.

I mean come on we put a man on the moon, and robot on Mars. Why can't we plug a hole in the ocean floor.

My thoughts exactly. Also why did they have no real plan of action to tackle something like this? I mean really did they not know this kind of thing could happen?? I really wish I lived closer so I could help in the cleanup or in any way I could. The constant stream of pictures videos and reports are just crushing  to see.

the problem is  they dony want to plug it cause they still want to get the millions of gallons of oil  ---So money is more important to them than reefs, fishing industry, birds, people livelyhoods when this stuff starts coming ashore

I saw a sign yesterday that made me chuckle and shake my head it said      BP     BIG POLLUTER

If you see a 250+ LB black dude in the saltwater fish section at your LFS dont run its me and despite the mean exterior im a COOL DUDE

Wubiz beat me to it. They CAN plug it, but the ways they can means they can no longer get to the oil...so they're trying to find a way to stop it but still get the oil in the future.

Keep in mind that they have a valve that can be installed on the pump during construction that is required in other countries (but not the us) that would immediately close off the pipe in such cases. BP chose to save money and not install it.

Also keep in mind that according to one source, they knew 3 days beforehand that an explosion was going to happen, yet they did nothing to stop it.

the only things you can do is there are some places that are cutting hair and taking the hair and stufing it into womens nylons and sending it there to use to soak up the oil that is the only thing ive heard or know anything about to do nay kind of helping out.
