I recently got 4 of my rachovii beira eggs to hatch and after day 1 fry seem to be doing good. hopefully can get a few more out and healthy before i have to dry the peat mixture out and re-wet it again.. didnt realize the lil guys were so hard to see. MUCH smaller than i anticipated. This is my first foray into an adventure of this kind with killifish. well, for any fish actually other than convicts.. found 3 of my RCS holding eggs as well.. has been a good week so far. Has anyone else ever kept or hatched annual killies and may be able to pass on any helpful tips or info ?. Would love to hear it if they have.. Wish me luck and the lil wrigglers too..

You are way too advanced for me as I don't have any idea what these little fish are (let alone know how to watch over babies!.  You did provide me with google terms to look at pictures while at work today though!

I do wish you luck and if I see any articles while looking at pictures, I will send them to you.  Your tank seems pretty neat and I hope you keep us apprised of all that is going on with the newest additions.

Just a small update on progress... can't seem to find anymore new babies even with a magnifying glass and a steady hand... hard to see them microscopic lil things unless i need glasses... have had 1 casualty so far and still 3-4 in there i believe.. with alotta luck i'll get em to grow a lil bigger and survive.. fingers crossed.. WCJ, I dont think its too advanced. It has been a huge learning experience and much researching threads and trying to find a happy medium between all the contradicting info.. but very fun....

With any of those soil-spawning killies, you get a bunch of new fish every time you re-wet the peat.. Using rainwater or other very soft water is good too.

They don't all hatch at once. Otherwise a light rain could cause them all to die when the puddle dries up.
