Hey guys.  This is Kimberly (using Mary's account because I screwed mine up).  My large clam, Clyde, appears to be dying... his mantel is receeding severely.  Any suggestions to turn this around, although it may be too late?  HELP!

Read these and see if they address the issues:

the e-magazine on wet media has a clam disease/parasite article.  I think it is worth taking a peak at anyway.  Might also have links to other articles on clam care.

What kind of fish do you have in your tank?

Corey,

Thanks "Clam 1" was helpful, but it doesn't look there's much I'll be able to do.

Kimberly, did you forget your password on your other account?

What issue addressed were you able to identify with your situation?

I think we should have made her keep "Fish Head" as her user name. That tickled me to no end.

I changed my screen name and had Scott delete my KimberlyBrug account.  We were unable to change it so we just deleted it and started over... I prefer "Fish Tales"!  Clam 1 addressed the issue of gaping.  Offered numerous causes and said there really isn't anything I can do to turn it around.  May be parasitic snails, poor lighting (although my lighting hasn't changed - except heavy patch of zo-anthids on the wall above and behind the clam), etc.  Who knows, but apparently this kind of thing happens.  Not happy about it.  Clyde was quite "The Man".
