One of my silly cories got himself wedged between the castle and the glass yesterday.  I don't know how long he was stuck for.  He got himself out as I was in the process of reaching in the tank to move the castle but he's got a red welt from top to bottom on his one side, and it looks as if it may have a bit of an open scrape as well(he doesn't hold particularly still, so hard to assay the injury as well as I'd like).

I treated the tank with maroxy just as a precaution(and went ahead and put the stressed betta female in there since I was treating that tank anyhow). I have that blue gill in my normal quarantine tank, so figured I'd just treat the albino's tank-- it's a 10g.

He doesn't seem to be acting oddly today.   I moved that castle further away from the wall of the tank though.

Fish get boo-boos sometimes.  I would have just watched it for signs of fungus.  It will probably be fine.

In my experience, it is hard for many people to maintain a hospital tank, keeping it clean, and keeping a live beneficial bacteria colonized as well.

As long as the injury just looks like a scrape, and other fish aren't picking at him, I'd leave him in the main tank. Weekly water changes will prevent infection in most minor wounds

Thanks Susan and HC.  He's looking much better(as is the female betta I put in there).

I'm paranoid girl now, having lost all my dwarf gourmais through not removing & medicating them until it was too late.  Sooo this time I think I got trigger happy.

I know how you feel.  It took me a while before I could be calm and just wait and watch.

See, I did it the opposite direction.  With those others I was too blase about it, and waited TOO long.  So now I am all AHHHH!

BUT, after the initial dosing I have managed to sit back and wait, and they both seem to be healing nicely.
