UT wants me to take a few of my kids down to their research station in the Bahammas this spring. So I ordered a new snorkeling kit from diver's supply. I am going to take it up to my folks summer place next weekend to try out and make sure it works . Much better than walking around the house in fins and a mask driving my wife crazy!!
Less than 100 bucks for pro quality; you just can not beat them.

I wish I could afford a good underwater digital. I have an ok dry land camera but will have to buy a few of those toss away underwater cameras with film. The problem is they do not have nearly enough flash power to get pics that look right
but I will come back with a ton of pics for sure!! I can't wait until spring!

No don't get those throw away cameras, they are junk. I used them when we snorkeled in Hawaii and I was sooo disappointed. Try ebay and search for the underwater camera housing. Lots of people buy them new, use them once and put them on ebay. I'm sure you will find one to fit your camera. That's what I'm doing when we go down to the Keys this spring.
Ok and, I would like to volunteer to chaperone....

Dave, seriously consider parting with $300 and get a Pentax Optio or Olympus Stylus camera (I've been impressed with both). You can find a lot of the later models for either at $200 now, might even look for used and find an even better deal. You'll have a great point and click and you'll be able to get all sort of underwater shots and film. These trips don't happen often.
The throw aways are appropriately named, as you'll just be throwing away your money, and you'll come home, develop the film, and throw away the pictures. Now you're perhaps 1/4 of the way to a camera you can use for a long time :)

Thanks for the advice, I did use the toss aways a few years ago and some worked pretty good while others the pics look just aweful.
Diver's supply has quite a few under water cameras, I will have to take a serious look at them.
thanks again
