I had a massive Aptasia problem in my 3g pico so I picked up a Peppermint Shrimp.

Four days later, I can't find any of the large Aptasia left. Still a few small ones but the shrimp has mowed the large ones down and hasn't touched any zoanthids or palys.

I love these little guys! And for under $10, woo-hoo!

They are fun to watch sway back and forth for no reason. Found that sort of.....odd

I bought two peppermint shrimp last fall, and they weren't interested in any aptasia. I had to wipe them out (the aptasia not the shrimp) with some kalk paste.  I see a couple have recently popped up on recently aquired piece of live rock in my biocube.  My peppermints disappeared soon after I got a strawberry basslet.

I have heard that if your Peps don't come from the florida area they will not touch Aptasia not sure if this is the case or not but i did hear that somewhere

If there are big chunks of aptasia my pepermints wouldn't touch them but if there were small ones they took care of those in a heart beat.

Yeah there are two types (for the life of me I don't remember the scientific names). I checked the book I had and my type is the one known to eat Aptasia.

The other ones have a different striping on their body. About the only real way to tell them apart as color just won't work (both species can be nearly clear or blood red).
