Does anyone have recommendations for koralia powerhead size and quantity for a 29 gallon? I am thinking of getting 2 power heads, but don't know what size. Should I get nanos, #1s or #2s? Anyone with experience that could give some input?

Well in a 40 gallon breeder I have a #1, #2, and 2 Nano pumps (pointed towards the surface for aggitation), with all SPS corals besides some pulsing Xenia, and those are working well for me.

Question about your 29 gallon is that a regular 29 gallon or a 29 gallon high?  Also what are you looking to stock it with.  Do you want really high flow or flow to vary in different areas of your tank?

It is a standard 29 gallon.  I am looking to stock mainly soft corals and maybe a monti or two.  I only have PC lights on this tank.  If I want to get into SPS later, I will need to upgrade lighting etc.

I don't need a high flow, but my two MJ 600s are not enough.  A varied flow would be good.

I would say a Number 2 a Number 1 and a Nano and just place them for the Chaos effect.
Check out this site, these are some really good people! http://www.wilmasthecause.org/ They helped me out,i feel adding the site to my Sig is the least i can do.

I would say a number 1 and two nano's would probably make a good combination.  If you put the Nano's so they are pointing up towards the surface and cross their streams in a X pattern and have a #1 going in the front blowing at mid level in the tank.  That should give you plenty of flow, and if its to much just remove one of the nano's and use it for a spare for an emergency pump.

Sounds like a good plan.  I will probably be buying a #1 and going from there.

I am going to add twin 2's to my 29 Caribean theme tank run off a motion timer to switch them on and off every 15-20 secs to slosh the water around a bit more.  plus I will have the return line from the sump stuck in a rear corner

Using a single 1 on all the time for Brian's (project dibs) experimental tanks but those are only ten gal tanks.  Eric Boreman's recommendation
