My brother-in-law has 2 Pacu about 10"-12"  in size and would like to give them to a good home. He is looking forward to expanding into Cichlids and needs the Tank that is housing the Pacu at this time. Also included is a rare Walking Cat. Call ANYTIME Rob aka "RJ'S Aquarium Stands if no answer Please leave a message at 734-347-1638

I know that Buk is interested in the Cat but my brother-in-law would really like the three of them to go together he says they've been together so long that they are like "Family". So any takers?

Telling someone that you want to give them Pacu is like telling them you want to give them rabies.

I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read this because it would have surely come out of my nose. Really my wife said maybe the Zoo would take them, I had to tell her you worked there.

Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of the clap, but rabies works okay  ;)

Euthenasia with clove oil is probably the most humane way to solve the situation.  You can denature it into solution with some drinking alcohol (bacardi works best for my eutheneeds ;)  You can get clove oil for a reasonable price at a health food store, I think I paid $5 at Claudias last time.

If I'm doing a big fish like that, I usually get a plastic bag, put in a fair amount of the clove oil (like 20 or 30 drops), give it a splash of the alcohol, and then mix into the container with the fish.  If after stirring that in they just get drousy, do another 10 drops, same way.  It doesn't take that much of the alcohol to denature it either.

The fish will get wobbly and then roll over and go to sleep.  It's even more serene than a penathol shot you may have watch administered to a beloved fur butt pet.

If you want to be cruel, or play God, you can put the fish into fresh water and completely revive it.   It's kinda weird how it works.  But like I said, it's a pretty danged good way to go.

Todd

p.s.  Don't tell the sales person at Claudias what you're using it for  ;)

I use clove oil.  (Didn't tell the clerk at Bassett's what it was for.)  I usually just shake 5 or 6 drops into a couple cups of water in the Fish Bowl O Death and stir.  Does the alcohol make it mix better?

Waaaaaay better.  With 5 or 6 drops they'll roll immediately.  It's like Lights OUT.

as long as u don't rub out the cat it sounds like an ideal way to get the job done. to be honest i'd rather see that happen than have someone be stuck with a fish far too large and unhappy/unhealthy to fit in any tank any normal person can afford.

now the zoo would be an ideal spot for these guys to end up. but as any of us that took the tour saw, there is precious little room available there. they do a great job with the hand they're dealt at the zoo but the space and recourses are far from limitless
