So with summer still in full swing is anyone planning a new tank, upgrades, fish room, or anything for the winter months?
I'm looking at turning my 40g breeder into a LPS dominated tank with some SPS thrown in here and there. Still trying to figure out exactly how I want to do it filtration and flow wise. 90% sure I'm sticking with a glass tank but undecided if I want to go open top or not. If I go open top, chances are I'll get an acrylic tank built and hang a 6 bulb T5HO unit from the ceiling.
The frag vat is doing ok. Got the flow somewhat figured out, just battling a red slime outbreak (don't mix up your freshwater and RO topoff jugs....). Skimmer is now fully functional so the nitrates are dropping nicely. Just need to locate some crushed coral, Southdown, Kolorscape, aragonite, etc for some substrate in that thing. If money allows, the wooden vat comes down and two 110g tubs go up (doubtful but you never know).
I'm only keeping one freshwater tank for my shrimp and crayfish. Going to focus my collection of 10g's on Clownfish breeding. J

Maybe I will get around to having a natural gas heater put in the basement. This where most of my tanks are. The electricity for the heaters in the tanks gets expensive.
I have a 29gal am thinking of switching the fish around. Place the goldfish in the tank that is in the cooler part of the basement and put the tropicals where it is warmer - the heaters have to work less, goldfish like the cool water.
I have two tanks left that need to be converted to planted tanks.

I may be getting a house soon. If that happens then once I save some more money back up after I drop a down payment I'll be buying some more tanks. I'm looking to do a really cool Freshwater planted tank and then a large Reef tank. I would like to build one into a wall and see how that goes but we'll see what I have time for.

One thing I've been thinking about is a canopy with stained glass in the front. I've been thinking about this for about 4 or 5 months now and Just started two of them 1 for my 75 gallon planted and 1 for my mixed cichlids 90 gallon. most of the construction is already done and I'm going to see about picking up the glass tomorrow. Sorry I didn't take any pics of the progress yet but I promise to get some pics up when they are done. This is something I was going to do in the winter but I figured I'd be busy with Customer orders then and wouldn't have time for my own projects.
