I sent my girlfriend to petco to see if they had any anenome to go with my ocellaris clown.  They told her yes and sold her a long tentacle anemone.  After checking everywhere there is no place that recommend that combination, and now we have to discuss this with their manager because they dont give refunds or exchanges.  Shouldnt they be liable for their bad info?  There I feel better! :)

Most of the clowns that will host Long Tentacles are like Clarkii, Chyrsogaster, and Polymnus clowns. Even then I heard that was slightly uncommon (and sure wouldn't chance it with $200+ Chrysogasters!). I don't think I've ever read of an Ocellaris hosting one, but might be possible....clowns are goofy.

That's up there with selling people Condylactis Anemones and saying that clowns WILL (they normally say will with extra authority) host them. That happened at other fish stores (not in Toledo mind you), when I decided to play dumb about anemones and clowns.

Actually I've read somewhere where False Precs have hosted in long tentacle anemones.

Sometimes Clowns will host in the most pecular corals.  My old Ocellaris use to host in my torch coral.  You may want to give them some time together and see what happens.  If not you can always try to sell him to someone else for the price you paid at petco or just talk to the manager and see if you can return him.

I agree with scott you never know it may host in it. people say  perc and occy's dont host in bubbles in the wild but you see alot of them in aquariums hosting. here is a link with clown fish and anemones compatibility's dont know if it is a grea list but it looks pretty good to me. I have had a bubble tip and a pink tip and my false percs ignored them but they are cool animals just the same.

remember pet stores dont always know the answers, some are just there to sell you what you think is cool.  research!!

There is no such thing as a bad picture!!!

My GF was saying that salesman said oh yeah this is the right anemone for the clown, while most sites dont mention it as possible.  Even with the right matching there might not be a hosting, you dont want to get whatever and hope.  After a few days of the false perc not hosting i moved him into the sump and moved my true perc from the sump into the tank(they dont get along)  Nothing yet

My experience with clowns (false percs, black and white percs and cinnnamons) especially tank bred ones, there is no "right" anemone for any clown. Mine have hosted in  coral, carpet, sebeas, and one had a real affinity for the intake of a filter. Only twice did I purchase an anemone specifically for a clown, a carpet and a sebae,

Always investigate before shopping. Especially in saltwater, just because someone works at a Petstore don't assume they are extra knowledgable in every department, while they almost definately know the basics, when it comes to saltwater, even I get confused

After fussing for a couple days, petco agreed to refund and return the anemone.

As others have stated, even if you get an anemone, your clown may totally ignore it.  Here is what worked for me: Get on of those seaweed clips that look like a clown fish.  Place it next to the anemone.  The clown fish may be fooled into going into the anemone.  Once they go in it, they hardly ever stray far from it.  Maybe it was just dumb luck, but it only took about 2 days once I put the clip near the anemone.

Very interesting idea....
