ALL of my Black Khulis were out today, doing the Khuli Dance on different sections of the glass in my 55g tropicals tank.  I usually don't see more than three dancing at any one time.  From what I have read about them, this is something they do when the barometric pressure changes?  I'm wondering if they are predicting storms, or nicer weather?

Either way, they are highly entertaining to watch.  They are always into something.  I have a couple that like to weave in and out of the holes in the lace rock.  There's one(same one? can't tell) that likes to curl his body around the air-wand-- looks like how a snake twines around a branch.  They are always DOING something- my own little ADHD fish!

Anybody know if you can mix the striped with the black? Do they care?  Will the striped school with the black?

The kuhlis do the dance in response to change of some kind.  A water change, weather, new tankmate; any of those things can set it off.

I can't imagine they would mind if you mixed striped with black.  They'd probably school.  Let us know if you try it!

I'll let you know if I get any striped!

Tonight I was watching that tank and the rainbow shark was chasing everybody per usual and I saw one of the khulies(rainbow's favorite targets usually) swim up and sort of whack the rainbow on the nose in this curling sort of "whap whap" and then swim off as fast as he could.  No idea if it was deliberate, or of the rainbow just happened tobe in the way of where the khuli was trying to go, but it was hysterical to see happen!
