I'm looking for a summer job, and well I don't know where to turn, I've been a member here for a little while and have kept fish all my life, 2 years SW, 7 FW.
Anyways how hard would it be to find a job somewhere just cleaning tanks and stuff like that or just taking care of fish!
Problem is I'm only 15 so I can't work at big chains and not too many people hire 15 year olds..
Any ideas?
Thanks
Kyle

The list of independant stores is a pretty short one.
You could also check with the aquaculture center north of BG. I'm not sure what it's called, but it's on route 582- it might be connected with OSU extension. They were going to raise food fish and shrimp.
That might be an interesting TRAC field trip, too.

You may want to post your willingness to "tank sit" (make sure it is OK with your parents first!) on places like craigslist or the local cafe-groups(I can post those addresses when I get home later tonight)
Some of the seasonal ice cream places used to hire kids under 16(Netty's, the Igloo, places like that).
A good way you can make money that you'd absolutely need to run by your parents first is dog-poo pickup. I know it sounds really gross, but I know for certainb there are lots of people out there that will pay someone to scoop the poop in their yards! If your parents agree to it, you could post your service and prices on places like craigslist, or the local cafe groups-- it's free to post on those services.
Also, dog-walking-- lots of people work all day and would love to have someone come in and let their dogs out and play with them, or walk them. A good way to find people for that might be if you are a member of a church see if you can post in a bulletin- or post signs in your neighborhood. This is also something you could post online as long as your parents are ok with it.
Maybe you can mow lawns or clean people's pools or pull weeds? At some golf courses they pay kids to collect lost balls, that might be worth making some phone calls. The pools I worked for years ago used to hire kids under 16 to work their concession stands. Babysitting might be an option for you too.
I don't know if these ideas are helpful or not, but good luck!

I have been mowing lawns for quite a long time, in terms of my short life, and it is a way to make a lot of money at a young age, problem is, you need money to get equipment, and you are 1, so you cant drive around and do that. Joining a lawncare company is another way, you can join their "Crew" but you will work long hours in the sun, fun for a while, but it gets old. The upside is that you are underage so you may get under the table money. Pet supplies plus hires 15 year olds if I remember correctly. If you are tall, they will not let you do customer service aka fish and small animal room worker, they will make you be a stocker. But maybe check there.

Thanks for all the replies but, another issue would be transportation my Dads retired an usually doesn't mind driving but I don't think he would drive 20-25 mins each way for something...
Any other ideas..
