I was wondering if there was a way to tell if a perc. clown was with eggs?? I have an orange one and a black one... and the orange one is looking pretty round... was just curious to see if there was a way to tell.

If she is, she'll lay in the next day or so. Keep an eye out for bright orange eggs.

hmmmm she either layed the eggs or had a bad case of gas.... because she looks alot skinner and is alot more active... no signs of eggs... but i'd say the scooter blenny got them if she did lay them...

I doubt the blenny got them, the males do a great job of guarding the nest. Mine routinely laid in my reef tank with other fish, and I kept them in there until they were about to hatch to raise the larvae. Try to find the male, if there's eggs, he's guarding them. Also, they're pretty small so you may just not have found them. Do they normally hang out in one spot?

The male is right beside the female as usual... nothing out of the ordinary... so maybe i was wrong... but she sure did look like she swallowed a marble. I know what the eggs look like but i don't see any

as far as i know the male will stay around to gurad them so if you see him in one spot or returning to a certain spot all the time he is prolly guarding something

It must be that time again.... female looking pretty large.., and this time they are both shimmying and ruffling the sand I think maybe their spot is under the anemone ... I will keep an eye out this evening and first thing in the morning...

There is an excellent book out on breeding clownfish. I cannot remember the author's name (only that the author is a woman) or the title to the book. Pretty sure Weimers has it or at least knows the name.

Good luck with the babies.

I have the book as well.  Its called Clownfishes I think by Joice something with a W.  I'd have to get off my lazy butt and look for it but don't really want to at the moment.
