Susan, I didn't know the crayfish you gave me was named Houdini!!! He went into the tank Saturday and I haven't seen him since!  The only plants I have are amazon swords which don't really create a good hiding place. There is a cave setup in the back coner which I can see about 80% of inside but no luck.

Have you looked up?  They like to climb.  Look in the swords.  Is your tank covered well?  They will also go walkabout sometimes.  I would have thought that the crayfish was big enough that your ram wouldn't eat it.  Do you think that happened?

Not in the swords. Plants aren't tall enough for him to get out of the tank either. The only way out of the tank is if he climbed the thermometer but no cray anywhere on the stand or the floor. I wouldn't think the Ram would eat him but what is a weird coincidence is the Ram has been on a hunger strike for the last few days. He hasn't eaten much of his food!? I am stumped!!!!!

Hmmm.  Either it's scared and hiding, or it became dinner.  If it doesn't turn up, I'll bring you another one next month when they are bigger.

I'll give it more time and see if I can solve this mystery!

Mine are really good at hiding too. I have six in a 40g and can only see maybe two at any given time. I was lucky last night and saw five out and about, the sixth hiding and defending her cave (good?).

Kind of doubt the Ram ate the little guy, unless he was already dead. Mine put up quite the fight against a Corydorus even coming close to them, and they're quick!

Any sign of Houdini?
