I broke down and purchased the source code of the forums so I can make my own edits.  I know, I know I'm a geek but I need to have the control.   I just want to update everyone a little bit on whats going on with the forums and how to set yourself up for them.

Emails:

If you want to recieve an email you need to click the envelope

at the bottom of a Forum or Thread.  This will subscribe you to the Forum or Thread and you will recieve an email everytime that Forum or Thread is updated.

RSS:

All of the Forums are setup for RSS Feed.  So when an item is updated it can but pulled to another site or location on this site.  Our Whats New on the front page pulls our post from the forum site via RSS Feed.  If anyone wants an aggregate feed for the RSS to post on another site please contact me at WebAdmin@TracCentral.org

Sticky:

There is no longer the ability to create a sticky forum.  Hopefully I'll find some time to code this into the site so we can have sticky forums again.  Although I don't think we had much use for them in the past so I might hold off until there is a need.

We now have the ability for pinning or having a sticky thread to remain posted in the forum.  If anyone has an announcement they wish to be pinned please contact me at webadmin@traccentral.org

Picture Uploads:

All Registered users now have the ability to upload pictures into your post.  Please try to reduce the size of the picture to bear the burden of people viewing the post.  The current image size I have to upload a post is 700 KB's.  When uploading an Image to the site that big the site will try to reduce the image size to make it a reasonable posting image size approximately 70 Kb.  So try to reduce your image size to about 70 Kb ahead of time to make sure the quality of your photo doesn't degrade on posting.

Avatars and User Settings:

Users have the ability to post avatars and setups signatures ect with their user acounts by clicking on the my settings link at the top of the forums.  Please try and keep Avatars clean.

Well hopefully these forums work better then the last ones.  Happy posting everyone!

Since there are a bunch of new users to the forum I thought I would give this a bump for newbies to read.

Since we've gotten quite a few new users in the last month I thought I would give this another bump.
