Our approach is a bit different than most LFS.

We manage three basic protocols to maintain the exceptional health of our livestock;

  1. Water Chemistry
  2. Feeding
  3. Aggression

Under the heading of water chemistry, I though it would be fun to provide some insight on how we address that.

We start with city water.

Once in the house and past the back pressure valve, we feed the SpectraPure PSP1000 RO system.

The gray cylinder on the right is the carbon filter which feeds both the RO system and the freshwater systems.  The waste water from RO production is used for water change to our goldfish system on a continuous overflow.

The freshwater also splits and goes on a seperate flow to discus systems.  Below is the flash heat unit used to adjust temp for the discus water.

Water from RO production becomes the source water for our marine systems.  It is stored under constent circulation.  300gals of Tropic Marine @ 1.025 sg and 300 gallons of RO.

Choice Aquariums runs nine centralized systems, which refers to the source water from the mechanical room.  Each system has its own circulation and filtration and simply draws from the storage for top-off and water change, which runs 24/7 on an automated basis.

One of the largest systems in the store is our main freshwater system.

The most complex is our marine fish system.

The heart of our saltwater system is the RK2 skimmer.

The system is controlled by a CPU that is tied into our ADT alarm system.  It monitors conductivity (specific gravity), oxygen carry, disolved solids, pH, and temp.  If the system goes one standard deviation off of parameters, then a yellow alert is signaled.  If the system goes two standard deviations out of parameters, then a red alarm is triggered and ADT calls me.

CPU that runs the marine system.

Along with the RK2 skimmer the system incorporates trickel and fluidized sand bed filtration.  There are also a series of pad and sponge filters.

The system also includes UV Sterilization.  Note the redundant UV as well as redundant heating elements.

The systems also run redundant pumps, where if any single unit goes down, the system can sustain until repairs are made.

Every aquarium at Choice is plumbed-in and on automatic water change and top-off.  While at the same time, every aquarium can be isolated and taken-off line.  Lighting is on a centralized timer, while there are independent circuts for the aquariums to tie into if taken off-line for heaters and hang on the back filtration.

I hope that give you a feel for the quality product we bring to market, and stand behind with the CHOICE 14-DAY WARRANTY.

That is a ridiculously impressive setup!  Very nice pics too.  This alone makes me want to take  the trip up there to check out the store.
