DONOR: Capenella

I will have 5 Capenella Frags ~ 1 to 2 inches tall
I keep them under PC under pretty much every flow condition.
Each is free to a member of the club providing that.....
- They provide an adequate environment for it to grow.
- They are at the next meeting to receive a colony
- They describe how it grows for them under their conditions, and what those conditions are.
- They promise that once they are twice the size they are now, they will donate a colony the approximate size of the original donor colony.
If you wish to be a sponsor....reply to this list. The first five will get a colony. The next people on the list will receive frags from the Sponsors when the colony has doubled.

I am interested in this frag.
I have about 130 watts of Compact lighting, water has tested out very nicely for sometime now. Have been growing a small frag of Pulsing Xenia. I will keep updated on the growth... As far as fragging back out... I have never done that but am willing to do if someone gives good instructions or even comes over to help.
Yes I am posting this to all 3 frag options.

Brent Matthews If you have a pair of good scissors and some super glue that is all it takes. Simple as pie.
I would have no problem with doing a fragging session during one of our meetings. I could use some of my own stock for the display or if people want to, we could get a stock coral from a sponsor (everybody chips in) and then we frag that out to those who chip in.

Xenia is a great one to start with it is very forgiving and grows like a week. The same can be said of Capenella. I suggest using a good clean cut and the tooth pick method. push the pick through the main stem and pin it to a shell or similar rubble piece with a toothpick sized hole drilled in it. This works well for leather too
I like that method better than the super glue because I seem to really get attached to my frags if you know what I mean LOL

could you tell what wattage is required for them? i know my 15 flourescent is too weak, but given they dont need their own generator outside my room, i might be interested in buying better lights
(could you answer this for all the threads, thanks)

I used to keep these in a 55 gallon with 40 watts and they did just fine. They did do better when I jumped up to 150 watts, but not that much better.

I'd like to keep this frag as well.
I have a 20 gallon tank, with 15 watts flourescent lighting in addition to natural sunlight and UV rays via window (Anemone is doing fine under these conditions).
Though if you feel I need a more lit tank, I understand

HC, how long have you had that anemone. The reason that I asked is that an anemone needs way more light than that. I had a 29g with 65 of PC and my anemone died due to light. I then bought my MH and another anemone. Many times an anemone will last for a couple of months and then die.
What color and type is the anemone.

They will probably be fine in that tank.
FYI, anenomies typically won't show signs of distress until it is too late. Until you have kept one for more then 6 months you just never know really.
I will be at the april meeing depending on when it is. I can bring the frags then.
