He brings up some very interesting points on show fish. I suspect on occasion I have gotten some F1 crosses labeled as show fish that did not breed true. Luckily I didn't pay much for them and they were pretty fish.

I think I may have said this before, but prior to finding TRAC I thought of guppies as sort of the Yugo of aquaria: cute, fun, but not to be taken seriously.  Whew have I learned otherwise!  I don't have an interest in deliberately breeding or creating my own lines, but I sure do appreciate what the breeders are accomplishing with these beautiful little fish.

I'm in awe of how gorgeous show guppies are.  They're truly lovely. 

Good article with interesting approach in the direction of show guppies. This coming July 2008 in Detroit, Michigan Guppy Breeders Club is going to host International Fancy Guppy Association show. The last one in Detroit was in 2005; consequently everyone will have a great occasion to taste genuine authentic guppies, and find the best way to see variety and diversity of them, and of course will have a possibility to talk to breeders and judges. So make a mark in your calendar 19 – 20 of July.     

We really should do some car pools to see that show.

One of the interesting points to me is that the show judges can only judge on the appearance of the fish. Nothing else. The possibility of breeders showing and selling crosses that will not breed true had totally escaped me, but it's obvious now that I've heard it.

So it is worth knowing the reputation of the breeders if you can find out about them.

I'm in!  It'd be fun to go with other people.  I'm used to my hobbies being solitary or only shared with like one or two other people. I think it'd be great to go with a group of people who are all interested.
