Hello everyone. I just wanted to remind you all that we are having our second annual Earth Day Booth at the Toledo Zoo on April 19th. We are looking for volunteers and ideas for our booth. Last year we did a booth on consumer choices in purchasing pets for your aquariums.
http://www.traccentral.org/TracEventGallery/tabid/84/path/Earth+Day+Celebration+2007/Default.aspx
It was a hot sunny april day that day when we ran our booth. This years categories are:
recycling
climate change
consumer choices
Year of the Frog
So basically we could fall under Climate Change or Consumer Choices.
We also need an activity and prizes for the kids at our table. Last year thanks to Zeeman and his son we had a small nemo pool to where the kids had to throw a marble into a ciricle and if they were successful they won a prize. So we need to decide what activity we are going to do and prizes that we are going to hand out. Last year we actually ran out of prizes. We do have limitations on what kind of prizes we can hand out. I know last year we talked about renting a costume of some kind of sea creature and thought about putting a TRAC T-shirt on it. If we're going to do this we need to make costume arrangements soon.
So start getting those creative juices flowing and if you are interested in volunteering for the booth please let me know.

I'm in...again! Had a ton of fun last year.
Will get back to you on ideas. I will have to check with the lady of the house on kids games (she does teach them afterall).
Consumer choices might be something we'll have to look at again. I'll try to think of ways to put a spin on that rather than "No Bettas in coffee cups!".

I'd love to help! I'm all about educating the public. Unfortunately my areas of expertise won't come into play here so I'm volunteering to be a whatever else you need done person.

Sounds like we will have a ton of help!! This is great! I have been corresponding with the individual who is chairing the event about the details for this year. Should be all clear shortly then we can start planning our displays, games, other activities, etc.

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.
