I have baby Halfbeaks!

Only 5, I think, but they are big!  Nearly an inch long.

Congratulations!  You must be doing a lot of somethings right in your tanks, that's all I gotta say.

I'd never heard of these fish, so I goodsearch'ed 'em, and amongst the informative links i found this that I thought was kind of fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCWLGsHWKL8

Neat little fish! I just read up on them thanks to your photos. Congrats Susan! You seem to have the fish breeding "touch". Is it the Kenny G or Barry White music that you play for them?

On a side note, I noticed they are collected from Sulawesi. Turns out some VERY NICE freshwater shrimp have recently been collected from there. They are very expensive at $25-$50 each right now (mainly do to importing costs like shipping, customs, permits, etc). I'll make a topic about them later.

No Kenny G or Barry White music here, it must be Sesame Street they like!

Hey Susan- do you remember how many kinds of FW shrimp were at the last auction we went to?

Those Norohampus liemi halfbeaks would be fun fish to try. I think I might get some the next time I see them. It's funny how huge those halfbeak babies are!

No, I'm sorry.  I only remember red cherry shrimp and dwarf crayfish.

I was surprised the babies were so big.  It didn't seem like the female deflated enough to produce such large fry!

The babies are doing well, they are really lively.  They are still in with their parents.  They hide out in water sprite.  Mom is getting a big tummy again, so there may be more babies on the way.  The babies aren't very cooperative while getting their pictures taken, this was the best I could do.  In case you can't tell, that's the top of a thermometer on the bottom right.
