I have a brackish tank that until recently, held a green spotted puffer and an orange chromide. I had a pair of orange chromides, but a few months ago he killed her. I had a spare chromide, because you have to buy several and let them choose their mates. I decided to try and put the two together. When they saw each other, they got really excited. All heck broke loose in the tank. They began digging a big pit. Cool, I thought, I have a pair. They are thinking about breeding. And so far, they aren't killing each other.
The uncool part is, they drove the green spotted puffer into a corner behind a filter. It was very unhappy. Last night I put a cup of Instant Ocean into my ten gallon quarantine tank and moved the GSP in. It was so demoralized, it swam into my net! "Just get me outa here!" it was probably thinking. It looks much better now. It is swimming around and its color is better.
Now I have a problem. I have to clean out one of my bigger tanks to put the GSP into. I don't think a 10 gallon tank is big enough for it long term. It's about three inches long, and it's a messy feeder. I guess I'll put it into my 18 gallon tank. I hate to evict the fish in there, but what'dya do? I don't want to break up the lovebird chromides.
