I have scoured the net looking for interesting guppy articles and found a few decent ones, however I am looking for some more that are quite in depth on the genetics of guppies. What genes are dominant what strains are common or prized etc.

Part of what I want to do with the guppiy breeding I have planned is to find soemthing that is considered more diffcult and have a decent success recreating or maintaining that line. then as most breeders would l;ike to do some experiments to see what can surprise me and increase the knowledgeof breeding.

I would also be curious if we could actually find somewhere to obtain 'wild' guppies and work from that. ( i know it has taken many breeder many years to get what strains are out there, but the thought still give me a big curiosity)

For "wild guppies", you should check out the Chambers Endlers Factory. A perfect starting place for a new breeding program!

Here's another guppy breeding article. The males and females were originally described as seperate species.

For the reason of  fun, only for guppy fanatics, members of TRAC, can we form very small group of breeders, to begin breed those magnificent fish under certain rules including genetics?  It’s not trouble-free, very time consuming; require lots of passion and enthusiasm. So, I hope Mike’s idea about genetics can get out of the ground…

I think this sounds fun and interesting. My one black/white is showing more color every day(getting yellow and a hint of red in the tail), and WOW he's gorgeous!  The females from his same "litter"(what's the right term?) all have the same colors-- really pretty group of fish.

I'm going to try to get the two 10 gallons and the 29 set up this week so I can separate my interesting boys from the girls, and try to figure out who is having what offspring in my tank.  Maybe I can just start from where I am with mine?

Mary I've got a mind like a steel....Ohh! Shiny! ::::wanders off::::
