June's fine, I'm already tied up with exams and job interviews. Thanks for the offer though

Not a problem.  I will bring it to that meeting.

Brandon, I assume the cheato acts as a competitor for algae right? Is there any other macroalgae that will complete with other algaes?

I also only have a 15w light on my tank, the majortiy of light is natural lighting (my tank is against a window) will the cheato be ok living it a meshed cup? or do they require a bit more lighting?

Correct me if I'm wrong but Cheato need a decent current to help turn it in a sump or you'll have to turn it by hand everyonce in a while.  Otherwise not all of it will be lit to help the photosynthesis process take place.

I'm not ruling out cheato, but Scott, do you have any other suggestions for macro algae?

Should I let cheato rummage free in my tank, how bad will it get?

Not to rain on Brandon's topic but have you checked Tropical Reef? I remember there being a tank full of macro algae above their display tank on the right wall.

Also Petco near the Franklin Park Mall had "red marine plant" that I'm pretty sure was a type of red algae. I was going to get some but forgot. By the time I got back it was sold (at $2 a bunch, doesn't surprise me).

Brandon, could I get maybe a golfball size portion of Chaeto? It'd be a nice addition to the pico and help with the nasties in there. Give me a bit more "play" with the water parameters.

Burks,

Sorry that I have not responded to this topic.  I lost track of this thread.

If you still need some cheato, holler at me.

I also have some red algea that I can let people have.  I have a limited supply right now, but it grows pretty fast.

Also Ocean Treasures has a supply of red algea as well.

I promised some to two people for the Aqua Hobbies swap. If I can possible get a little more I have some calurpa prolifera. It grows really fast and I use it to feed my tangs. It will also anchor in the sand. I had it in my bowfront-it grew thick and nice. I have it in my refugium. Also, if Scott wants to come over and help me frag I can donate Dave. I just am not quite comfortable with fragging yet. My frags are starting to grow out - so Scott will have to be the judge.
