Animals are such agreeable friends – they ask no questions, they pass no criticism. (George Eliot).
So, now you most likely sense why I feel so comfy with my guppies.

Hello Dave! Before we will be able to find real scientific explanation, and come across the mechanism I would like to share with you my experience with show guppies last year organized by Guppy Associates of Greater Cleveland June 3rd 2006.I was rising for two years very difficult color, green guppies in my fish room, under three Tungsten 50 watts halogen bright white light lamps, ideal for basement fish room. I was surprised how beautifully my guppies sounded in fish room green, but when I placed them on the show bench with another green show guppy, to my surprise a blue reflection of caudal fin was so prominent. So, I transferred them to blue delta category and… I won Blue Delta category and my fish became 4th Best of Show Delta Guppy. I ask several people for clarification, but inquiry stays behind unanswered.
In fact Guppy color system is not very easy to clarify and understand. What we see is not necessarily what we get when it comes to guppy color. Green guppy color is a result of the mixing of yellow pigment color and the reflected blue light from iridophores. The light reflected from these two colors mixes and reaches your eyes as green. Evidently yellow quality of lightning in my fish room made fish reflect more yellow than lights at IFGA show benches. This made them appear to be green. The lightning at the show was a lot bluer, so reflected lights from iridophores gave rather blue image.
Enlightenment of the episode was base on expertise of geneticist Philip Shaddock.
