Any boat owners here? Need some tips.
Heh thanks muttley. I just feel like I'm missing out on a ton more fish because we can't fish the north side (the spring fed side) of the reservoir without a boat.
Owning a boat is like owning a car to me. They are never ending money pits. As long a...

Any boat owners here? Need some tips.
I'm looking at buying a smallish (min 14ft for tournaments here) boat to start hitting the open water and leave shore fishing behind me. Weight isn't an issue as I have a Chevy 2500, but I'd prefer it to be lighter weight so two people can handled it...

any interest in another reefcleaners.org group buy?
Reefcleaners is a great place. We've ordered from them in the past and always had extras thrown in. Their mangroves come in at a pretty good size too.

Finally a TV series about aquariums!
I watched it for about five minutes until the owners started to annoy me. So I turned the channel.
Probably putting on a "show" for the camera, but either way.......
Duel-Survival is better anyways. Hippy man rules.

How to elevate a skimmer?
Cut some holes in a large diameter piece of PVC pipe and zip tie egg crate on top of that. Then sit the skimmer on it. Should be more stable, especially if you can cut the egg crate to a near perfect fit.
Or cap the PVC pipe at the bottom with a cap...

Coral frag swap in Columbus (sept)
I probably work that day (or the day before if they ever get me switched back to night shift).
If I'm off I'll swing by just to catch up with some of you guys. Want to hit the zoo one more time anyways. Good excuse to go right?

Q: live food in aquarium?
Look into freshwater scuds. I would say daphnia but that need a lot of phytoplankton. I've had scuds in a barebottom tank with just Endler fry before, did awesome.

salty supply
I have. Just small things like additives. Ran across them doing a search for Brightwell stuff. Fairly fast shipping and it's a flat rate (for the most part) up to $200 or something.
Better than those that basically screw you on shipping. Was going t...

What the heck are these?
Sure look like Pom Pom crabs to me. They should have really small claws/pinchers. May or may not have their anemones. I know mine dropped both of his/hers for whatever reason.

What is it?
I had it in my tank before, it never really spread beyond maybe a softball sized area. Sort of sprang up on me, although it could have been growing slowly. I miss that sort of crap.
Never did find out what it was. Interested to hear what people thin...

Just going to leave this here for Buk....
Before when I was using 14lb Spiderwider mono, yeah. You REALLY REALLY had to be careful to not put much strain on the line (or pole, I was using a medium-light action).
Now with the 65lb braided Spiderwire (braided is AWESOME btw) and a medium a...

We had a 48"+, 40lb Muskie throw the hook today.
The length is accurate, we've got good at guessing length. Weight is an estimate, this fish was WIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE. A 7" lure barely went from side to side at the entrance to the mouth. The ~30lb fish ...

My new 120 gallon palnted aquarium.
The Australian Rainbows that you can find at places like Petsmart for cheap are really nice. They don't have that insane "in your face" colors like some rainbows, but when well fed and happy produce some very nice colorations.
I have a group of 6 in...
