Return pump question
Victoria:  Its just a give up for the year, not forever.  I'm bound and determined to have 1. a rimless tank 2. without algae and 3. with a fish!!!  Its pretty rare, almost unheard of in my non-aquarium life that I don't get what I want, so I will ev...

Return pump question
No, I'm not sure I did the calculations right.  However, I went back and looked again. I couldn't find oceanrunner 3500 pump on the reefcentral head loss calculator, so I thought I used Eheim 1262 as they both had 900 gph.  Apparently, the calculator...

Return pump question
Trying to finish a project so I could water test before winter.  I have a 36 x 24 x 18 (76 gal).  It has a 1.5" drain and two 1" returns.  I wrote down that I was supposed to get an oceanrunner 3500 as a return pump.  However, I'm thinking it should ...

Kenya Trees
My parents' tank has numerous sizes from 1" to 7" by 4".  Some are dark brown and some are pinkish tan.  Some on rocks, some in the sand.  If anyone is interested, let me know.   Given the family network, I can make them available in Perrysburg, Walb...

Reef Safe With Caution - Blue Head Wrasse
Okay, I don't like the answer, but its why I asked.  We have visited him twice and really wanted to bring him home.  I had a bigger tank to put him in, which has been a project for the last year.     I was hoping it was like Angelfish, which I unders...

Reef Safe With Caution - Blue Head Wrasse
What exactly does reef safe with caution mean?  In my mind, it means keep it fed or its going to eat something you don't want it to.  Is that right? Or does it mean, will eat what you don't want it to, sometimes depending on the particular fish? Or d...

Missing something yet for water quality
Sorry, missed the fish question.  Bob the naso tang was the first fish, yes a big mistake, I know.  However, the second attempt was with bangaii cardinalfish.  They are in the easy category and they only made a week.  I'm hoping its water quality is...

Hydroids! (I think)
AAHHH someone with my own heart.  I already like you and don't even know your name.   I had aptasia and the same temper/lack of patience.  I threw mine out in the yard as far as I could and got a very satisfying thud.  I will give you a warning thoug...

Missing something yet for water quality
Thanks Victoria, I'll cut back on the food.  Those crabs just seem to fight over it so I figured they were hungry.  I hate those things, they just fight and fight and fight --  as you can tell, they were NOT bought for the tank. Only other food I pu...

Missing something yet for water quality
Correction on the second skimmer, its not an ASM, its a Reef Octopus 160 DNW, don't know if that makes a difference, but thought I would make the correction.  I will try running some tests as I haven't run any recently, but usually with the algae I ...

Missing something yet for water quality
Still missing something in the overall nutrient export picture.  I have decent growth and color, but I think water quality is a problem, so I'm looking for ideas as to what I'm overlooking.  65g tank running two tunze 6100s and 2 K4 because I don't t...

I don't have a fish in my saltwater tank and I've never had a freshwater tank, which I think ths person might have because I've never heard about any of these fish, but isn't there some suggestions this person could have?  Could increased water chang...

Coral Growth Pattern
Hoping these work.  As you can see, I am getting several pencil width branches that grow about 1/2-3/4" long and stop.  However, I have a bunch of thin 1/8-1/4" branches as well.  Like I said, I thought I should be getting a couple of select branches...

I'm sorry.  I must have confused you with someone else.  I thought you were the one with all the xenia from the Ann Arbor swap a year ago. Good Luck with the contest!

Coral Growth Pattern
I don't have softies.  I only read about acros and that's all I have except 1 monti and 2 slimers.  I've been reading about fish as the hubbie wants one, but there just seem to be too many diseases to be able to flag that I have only had one and that...

Coral Growth Pattern
I wasn't implying that anyone on here was mean spirited, I can just feel a collective groan.  Usually, just trying to avoid causing them myself, that's all. You'd have to get up a lot earlier in the day to offend me.  I wondered myself whether the g...

HQI MH bulb replacment
I use labels on everything, food, lights, chemicals, test kits, etc.  Lets me know when things were bought/opened.  I then give those dates to my secretary to set computer reminders in outlook.  It may be a bit of overkill, but its the one thing I ab...

Question: What is Ozone, How hard is it to setup, and what benifits does it provide?
Can I see a photo of it setup on someone's tank?  I was going to try this, bought all the equipment and then just sat looking at it.  I went to vodka /MB7dosing as it did not need equipment, but it would seem that ozone may be a bit more natural.

I like it too, although my sister is going to be a bit bummed that you don't have all the xenia anymore.  She thought you were a kindred spirit as xenia is her favorite, in any color.
