I have been having problems with Firefox hanging up after I shut it down. I have to restart my PC in order for Firefox to shut down. If I dont do that I cant get back on line because it says that Firefox is still running. I searched for the problem on the web and found that a lot of folks have the same issue. I have started to use Google Chrome and I really like it but I cannot reply to threads on TRAC. It says that it is an invalid post. I cannot send messages either. Any Ideas? I posted this using Explorer.

No help but I have the same problem using Safari. I can not post due to it saying invalid post. It made me upset the other day cause I actually had to go down in the basement and get the laptop just to post.

Google Chrome doesn't not work and has bugs all around with .Net, but I've tested with Firefox adn Safari and I have no problem posting with those browsers.
Of Course the best support will come from IE.

I'll have to use Explorer for now I guess. I cant use firefox anymore untill they fix that bug. Evidently it does not happen with all puters but I guess mine was one of the unlucky ones.

I get that hang thing with firefox every now and again, and usually can make it go away by using ctrl/alt/del.
It doesn;t happen all the time for me though.

If you get that error hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete all at the same time. Go to the Processes tab, find Firefox.exe click it and select end process. that will allow you to reopen it. I get that sometimes as well, and this way is far faster than a reboot and better than IE by a landslide!

What version of Ff are you using? I haven't heard of this problem before. If you have recently upgraded you may want to revert to an older version. If you have an older version you may want to upgrade.

Well I figured out my problem. I am with Buckeye cable and I was using Avast antivirus. I tried a Beta version of Zone Alarm and that was what was screwing my Firefox up. I researched it and a lot of folks using Zone Alarm on thier 64bit systems were having the same issue. I switched back to Avast and everything is back to normal.

My parents were using Zone Alarm for the longest time until I switched them over to AVG. No more lag or random disconnections.
This was on a Vista machine, 32 Bit.
