Co-writing a SF/Steampunk story!
Totally offtopic- Ive been working on writing fiction ( I already have a published non-fiction book out there, but it's out of print ), and I recently began co-writing an adventure with a friend in Dallas. It's set in the 1880's, and involves retro...

Cafepress shop.
The number of people in this country who have one or more college degrees and are either unemployed or working part-time for minimum wage is staggering.

I've got my first design up on cafepress. What do you think? "A good education is vital to successful unemployment".

Fresh water plants under MH'S
Also remember that in a tank that size, you're going to be using a lot of larger plants. They send their leaves up to where there's more light. If you want some grassy low cover plants, crypts might be the way to go.

new babies
With any of those soil-spawning killies, you get a bunch of new fish every time you re-wet the peat.. Using rainwater or other very soft water is good too. They don't all hatch at once. Otherwise a light rain could cause them all to die when the pud...

Penguicon- what fun
Way, dude! He has a website too, that shows how he makes his costumes. I also saw him in his General Xinchub costume, but that doesn't light up. Steampunk chicks:

Penguicon- what fun
I went to Penguicon last week with Glenn, schambers husband. Three days of ultra-geeky fun! I did go to a couple linux programs, and we made a connection with a guy from FreeGeek Detroit, which has a similar mission to Computers for Charity, which b...

ALA Auction
I went up to the auction at the end of the American Livebearer Association convention a couple weeks ago. I only took one bag of fish and a couple plants- It sounded like it might be coals to Newcastle. Lots of really weird livebearers! Lots of t...

Toledo Blade Aquarium Article 4/5/10
It's the same one. Being involved with a club like TRAC would certainly help to increase the survival rate.

Fish Doctors - Ypsilanti
We were up in Ann  Arbor on  Saturday, and drove East of rt 23 to hit a few stores. I stopped at Fish Doctors of Ypsilanti. Nice store! I won't comment on the saltwater side, but there were a couple nice mini-pond / fountains, some unusual freshwate...

Toledo Blade Aquarium Article 4/5/10
The link isn't up yet, but there's a NY Times article called "Aquariums - Growing demand could hurt ecosystems, scientists say" in the Blade peach section. Might be a good time for someone to write a letter mentioning  the club, captive breeding, fr...

It's a hybred between a science fiction convention ( the literary non-trekker kind ) and a linux fest. All the liquid nitrogen ice cream you can eat.

The American Livebearer Association convention and auction is this month up in Detroit. I will be going to the auction, but I'm not sure about the Saturday sessions. You can't find any weirder livebearers that what you'll see there!

This is a semi-regular feature  in the GDAS bulletin. I added the 11th.   01  How long have you been in the hobby?   02  What is your main area of interest?   03  How many aquariums do you have?   04  List 3 things that the club might find su...

GDAS Auction - March 13
Peg and I drove up. It started at 11, and finished at 4 (surprisingly early for so much stuff). Lots of plants. There were some cichlids, but they weren't the plague that they can be. There were lots of angelfish, and some discus. Quite a selection o...
